This two-part program is designed for individuals who would like to be certified in conducting workplace drug and alcohol screening and worker assessments.

Impairment Testing Officer Training is aimed at individuals working in the industrial sector who are responsible for testing employees for drug and alcohol impairment. This two-part course is designed to provide practical tips on developing and enforcing DAMP policies, best procedures, chain of custody requirements, and what to watch out for. The course also outlines the testers obligations and ensures compliance with their state Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act. The first part of the course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of drug and alcohol impairment testing, including how to conduct tests and interpret the results. This section also covers the legal and ethical considerations of DAMP testing, such as privacy and confidentiality concerns.

The second part of the course, HLTPAT005: Collect Specimens for Drug Abuse Testing, is the unit of competency required to become certified. This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to perform urine and oral fluid drug tests, as well as the procedures for handling and storing samples. It also covers the importance of maintaining accurate records and complying with relevant legislation and policies.
